[June 22, 2010]  NEW YORK (AP) -- A mural-size photograph by Ansel Adams of Yosemite National Park has sold for more than $722,000 at auction in New York City.

Sotheby's says Monday's sale of the photograph set an auction record for Adams.

"Clearing Winter Storm, Yosemite National Park" had been estimated to sell at a top price of $500,000 before bidding started. The auction house didn't release the name of the buyer.

Other notable sales included photographs by Chuck Close, Andy Warhol and Lucas Samaras.

About 1,000 Polaroid and gelatin silver prints by some of the biggest names in 20th-century photography are being offered at Sotheby's. The auction continues Tuesday.

The prints are being sold by PBE Corp., a previous owner of the Polaroid brand.
