At 10:31 a.m., National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall across the warned area with
rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 3 inches across the area, and more rain
is on the way. Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause
flash flooding to occur. Some locations that will experience
flooding are Lincoln, Athens, Atlanta, Beason, Chestnut, Cornland,
Elkhart, Emden, Greenview, Hartsburg, Latham, Middletown, Mount
Pulaski, Petersburg and Tallula.
The Logan County emergency manager reported flooded roads in
Lincoln and water flowing into Lincoln High School. In addition, 2.8
inches fell in the past hour three miles south of Chestnut.
Precautionary, preparedness actions: Excessive runoff from this
storm will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country
roads, normally dry washes, as well as farmland along the banks of
creeks and streams.
