The combatants provided lots of throwing, stomping, flipping,
arm-finger-leg-neck twisting, flying, elbowing, punching, bouncing,
rope-spring body flinging and body-twirling, and, of course, lots of
hilarious verbal exchanges.
Some of the warfare spilled over onto the floor, where excited
patrons had to back off a bit while the combat continued. There were
nine matches in all, including some confrontations between matches.
Wrestlers from in state and out of state competed. The main event
saw Tyler Black, Ring of Honor world champion and HDNet television
star, of Des Moines, Iowa, facing off with Brandon Aarons, the Pro Wrestling Epic United
States champion, of Newport Beach, Calif.
While both are quick, clever and solid brick-built ruffians,
Black was able to eke out a win over the persistent but smaller
Aarons.
Between 150 and 175 fans witnessed the wild and woolly fighting and
jabbering. This time, ice bags didn't have to be passed out to any
of the participants, but plenty of scratches, abrasions, and red
marks could be seen on all, more on some than others.
One simply has to appreciate how these well-balanced athletes
perform dozens of wrestling moves, tumbles and throws, yet not
suffer any broken necks, backs or limbs. As the promoter says, "Not
all wrestlers are invited or allowed to compete" -- no need for
unnecessary injuries.
