[March 09, 2010]  PEEKSKILL, N.Y. (AP) -- A suburban New York mayor wants to correct the record after "Saturday Night Live" made fun of her city.

HardwareFirst, Peekskill isn't upstate. Second, it's not a hellhole.

The city of 24,000 residents was mentioned on the NBC comedy show Feb. 27. An actor playing Gov. David Paterson said he planned to tour "upstate New York -- hellholes like Plattsburgh and Peekskill." He said residents there are "rock eaters" and "freaks."

Mayor Mary Foster pointed out Monday that Peekskill is in Westchester County, just north of New York City. She says Peekskill has a scenic setting and a vibrant art community.

The mayor and supervisor of upstate Plattsburgh also aren't amused by "Saturday Night Live."

Paterson has criticized the show in the past for making fun of his blindness.

NBC has declined to comment.
