Theatergoers were kept off 45th Street after the performances. When the curtain came down, theatergoers at "Red" and "God of Carnage," for example, were asked to exit through the stage-door alley and into the lobby of a hotel that faces Eighth Avenue rather than onto West 45th Street. And at "Billy Elliot," patrons were told to exit the theater through its back doors on West 46th Street. Hit shows in theaters located away from the area, such as "Wicked," "Fences," "Mamma Mia!" and "Jersey Boys," were unaffected.
