Recall information

[May 03, 2010]  According to Recalls.org, a nonprofit organization, the following recalls were issued by various federal and state agencies during the week ending May 1: 

CHILDREN'S SWEATSHIRTS 

Polar Bear Gift Shop is recalling children's hooded sweatshirts with drawstrings sold exclusively at Polar Bear Gift shops in Anchorage, Alaska from February 2008 to August 2009. The sweatshirts have a drawstring through the hood which can pose a strangulation hazard. 

This recall involves children's hooded sweatshirts sold in sizes small through extra large. "John Moose" and "Alaska" screen print logos are printed on the front of the yellow sweatshirts. The "Gaxiani" brand name and RN# 55774 are sewn on the neck tag inside of the garment. 

Consumers should immediately remove the drawstring to eliminate the hazard. Consumers can also return the sweatshirt to Polar Bear Gift Shop for a full refund.

TOY DRUMS 

Step2® Company LLC is recalling Basic Rhythms Drums™ sold nationwide and in Canada from August 2009 to March 2010. The plastic clips used to attach the drumsticks to the drum can break. The small broken pieces present a choking hazard. 

This recall involves Step2® Basic Rhythm Drums™ intended for preschool age children. The toy drum is sold with two drumsticks that can be stored in clips on the side of the drum. A red "Step2®" logo in printed on the side of the drum.

EGG SHAKERS 

Discount School Supply is recalling Double Egg Shakers sold at Discount School Supply stores nationwide from April 2009 to December 2009. Surface paint on the red eggs contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard. 

This recall involves egg shakers sold in packages of two. The words "Double Eggs" and "Breeded to produce great sound" are printed on the front of the package. Only the red eggs are subject to the violation of the lead paint standard.

SNOWMOBILES 

BRP is recalling BRP Ski-Doo snowmobiles sold at Ski-Doo dealerships nationwide from July 2008 to February 2010. The drive pulley bolts on the snowmobiles can break due to oil contamination during the assembly process. This can cause debris to come off the vehicle and act as projectiles, posing a laceration hazard. 

The recall involves Ski-Doo model year 2009-2010 SKANDIC SWT V-800 and model year 2010 GSX 1200, GTX 1200, MXZ 1200, and Renegade 1200 Snowmobiles. The model name and number are displayed on the engine compartment and the serial number is on the right side of the vehicle below the seat on the frame.

DIVING EQUIPMENT 

Ocean Management Systems Inc. is recalling Buoyancy Compensators used for Scuba Diving sold nationwide from May 2006 to August 2008. The buoyancy compensator seal ring could crack, posing a drowning hazard. 

This recall involves buoyancy compensators listed at www.recalls.org. The compensators were sold in black or red. "OMS" is printed on the front inside of the compensators.

ICON Health & Fitness Inc. is recalling Nordic Track Revitalize, Gold's Gym, and Weider Club Inversion Benches sold nationwide from April 2008 to February 2009. The ankle clamp can release unexpectedly or the strap used to limit rotation can break, posing a fall hazard. 

This recall involves the Nordic Track Revitalize Inversion Bench 2.0 model 831.14895.0, Gold's Gym Inversion System models GGBE0867.0 and GGCCBE0867.0 and Weider Club Inversion System model WEBE0878.0. The model number is located under the backrest of the bench.

HOODED SWEATSHIRTS 

Gogo Sports Inc. is recalling children's hooded sweatshirts with drawstrings sold in California, Colorado, Hawaii and New Mexico from January 2008 to December 2009. The sweatshirts have a drawstring through the hood that can pose a strangulation hazard. 

This recall involves three styles of children hooded sweatshirts with drawstrings. The HAY style sweatshirts were sold in black, navy, light grey, charcoal grey and pink. The HKK style sweatshirts were sold in black, navy, light blue, light grey, pink and red. The JMK sweatshirts are reversible microfiber with polar fleece lining and a removable hood with elastic or retractable drawstrings. Style JMK was sold in black only. The sweatshirts have sewn-in neck tag that reads "Gogo Sports" and city names printed across the front of the garment. 

Consumers should immediately remove the drawstring from the sweatshirts.

SIMPLICITY CRIBS 

Simplicity full-size cribs with tubular metal mattress-support frames are being recalled. This recall includes fixed-side and drop-side cribs sold nationwide. These cribs pose a risk of serious injury or death due to entrapment, strangulation, suffocation and fall hazards.

The crib's tubular metal mattress-support frame can bend or detach and cause part of the mattress to collapse, creating a space into which an infant or toddler can roll and become wedged, entrapped or fall out of the crib. 

This recall involves all Simplicity cribs with tubular metal mattress-support frames. A full list of the recalled cribs can be found at www.recalls.org.

GRACO CRIBS 

LaJobi Inc. is recalling Graco®-branded drop side cribs sold nationwide from February 2007 to March 2010. The drop side hardware can break or fail, allowing the drop side to detach from the crib. When the drop side detaches, a hazardous gap is created between the drop side and the crib mattress in which infants and toddlers can become wedged or entrapped, posing a risk of suffocation and strangulation. 

This recall involves LaJobi-manufactured Graco® wood cribs. The full size cribs were sold in cherry, espresso, natural and white finishes. The production date, item number, purchase order number and finish name is printed on a label affixed to the footboard or headboard. "LaJobi" and the crib model name are printed on a product sticker located on the stabilizer bar or bottom rail of the crib. A list of the affected models can be found at www.recalls.org.

ATVS 

Yamaha Motor Corporations USA is recalling Yamaha All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) sold nationwide from October 2007 to March 2010. The steering column support assembly can crack and cause the rider to lose steering control, posing a risk of injury or death to riders. 

This recall involves the non-power steering models. Model names can be found on both the right and left hand side of the unit on the side panel. A list of the model numbers affected by this recall can be found at www.recalls.org.

LIGHT FIXTURE CHAIN SETS 

Cooper Lighting LLC is recalling chain sets sold with Metalux light fixtures sold nationwide from May 2006 to March 2010. An "S" hook on the chain connecting the fixture to the ceiling can straighten when subjected to high impact forces, resulting in the light fixture falling. 

This recall involves the AYC or HBAYC model chain set for use in a gymnasium or similar recreational facility with one of the following Metalux commercial light fixtures: F-Bay HB/2HB; F-Bay 2HBHD; F-Bay HBE; F-Bay HBHT; F-Bay HBI; F-Bay HBL; F-Bay 2HE Series 2HE; Arctic Bay AB; or Arctic Bay ABI.

POWER ADAPTERS 

Comarco Inc. is recalling Targus Universal Wall Power Adapters for Laptops sold nationwide from June 2009 to March 2010. Faulty wiring can cause the connector tips to heat and melt the plastic encasing the connector tips, posing a burn hazard. 

This recall involves the Targus Universal Wall Power Adapters for Laptops. Only models with the following SKU numbers are affected by this recall: APA23US-02, APA23US-03, APA23US-04, APA63US-03, APA63US-04, APM62US-03 and APM62US-04. The SKU number can be found on the underside of the adapter unit.

Sportime is recalling TechnoSkin Foam Balls and Sportime TechStitched Soccer Balls sold nationwide from December 2006 to August 2009. Surface paints on the sports balls contain excessive levels of lead. 

The recall involves the following SchoolSmart TechnoSkin Coated Foam Balls and TechStitched Soccer Balls. The TechnoSkin Foam Balls measure between 2 ¾ and 8 ¼ inches in diameter. The Sportime TechStitched Soccer Ball is a standard size soccer ball.

BABY SWIMSUITS 

Gap Inc. is recalling Baby Swimsuits sold nationwide from February 2010 to April 2010. The swimsuits have halter straps that were manufactured too short causing the plastic ring located at the neck of the swimsuit to press against the child's throat and obstruct the airway. This poses a strangulation hazard. 

The baby swimsuits were sold in two styles: number 706260 is blue and white and number 700452 is red and white. The style number can be found on the label located on the swimsuit. Both swimsuits were sold in infant sizes up to 24 months and are made of a synthetic knit stretch fabric of polyester and spandex. 

Consumers should return the swimsuits to the place of purchase for a full refund.
