[May 13, 2010]  NEW YORK (AP) -- Beads, flowers, freedom and happiness land in the nation's capital this fall as the Broadway musical hit "Hair" launches its national tour.

Oskar Eustis (YOO'-stihs), artistic director of The Public Theater, said Wednesday that the Public was founded "on touring" and he's glad to bring the Tony-winning revival's "message of peace and freedom across the United States."

"Hair," currently on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre and in London at the Gielgud Theatre, will have a "sneak peek" on Oct. 21 at the Shubert Theater in New Haven, Conn., before the official tour launch Oct. 25 in Washington. The tour ends Oct. 26 in Orlando, Fla.

The legendary 1960s "American tribal love-rock musical" has remained popular well into middle age with a parade of hits: "Aquarius," "Easy to Be Hard," "Frank Mills," "Good Morning Starshine" and, of course, "Let the Sun Shine In."
