Saturday dozens of people came out to the Lincoln Christian Church Fellowship Hall to donate a minimum of one hour of their time to assisting families in Haiti.
Working with International Disaster Emergency Service and Kids Against Hunger, the group put together dehydrated food pouches that will be shipped to Haiti as people there recover from the effects of a 7.0-magnitude earthquake, homelessness and most recently, a serious outbreak of cholera.

Jim Allen gives Cliff Marble a thumbs-up as Marble carries bags of long-grain rice to the tail of the IDES box truck.

Jackson Getchel then puts the bags on a truck cart and wheels them into the Lincoln Christian Church Fellowship Hall.

Volunteers then measure ingredients into pouches.

The pouches are then weighed, sealed and packed into cartons of 36.

The food pouches require only being cooked with water, and they offer all the daily nutritional needs of a child in one simple serving.

The first shift of the day ends and participants pose for a picture, offer up a prayer for the people of Haiti, then move on to sample the prepared food product.

While cooking, the dish had a wonderful aroma, and according to this young lady, it tasted just as good as it smelled.
