[November 09, 2010]  FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) -- The star of the Canadian public television hit "The Red Green Show" found plenty of fans carrying one of the character's favorite items -- duct tape -- when he made an appearance in Alaska.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported that actor and writer Steve Smith was asked to autograph rolls of duct tape, hockey sticks, pictures and wallets made from duct tape Sunday.

Smith was visiting Fairbanks as part of his "Wit and Wisdom 2010" fundraising tour for public broadcasting.

He spent a couple of hours at Big Ray's outfitters store before a Sunday evening performance at Hering Auditorium later -- staying in full character with trademark green hat, plaid shirt and suspenders for both appearances.
