Thursday evening, the Senior
Issues Task Force, a component of the Healthy Communities
Partnership, hosted its first-ever USO dance at the American Legion
in Lincoln.
For a period of two hours, guests stepped back in time to a mingling
of World War I and World War II-era USOs in honor of our local
veterans.
The evening drew a large crowd with many age groups represented. As
the young and young at heart, many dressed in period clothing, took
to the dance floor, the Steve Markum Swing Band played lively wartime pieces that most all veterans recognized.

volunteers manned the table, keeping everything full for the soldiers
and guests. |

Along with having a good time dancing, the
task force took the opportunity to share important information about
resources for seniors.

Coming back to a more recent time, "I'm Proud
to be an American," originally sung by Lee Greenwood, brought a round
of applause for the band.
