The Senior Issues Task Force, which is a component of the Healthy Communities Partnership, sets new goals each year of what they want to do to assist senior citizens in living a healthy, productive and independent life in Logan County.
According to Marcia Cook, who is a chair on the task force, this year the group is focusing on raising awareness of crimes against seniors and is helping to educate seniors so that they do not become victims.
Living a healthy lifestyle also includes socialization. The task force works to keep seniors involved in community activities that give them an opportunity to interact with others.
Events such as the USO dance Thursday night brought a wide variety of age groups together, many with a common ground of having served in our nation's military.
Others who were there came out of respect for the veterans and for an opportunity to have an evening of fun, fellowship and, of course, dancing.

Symbols of patriotism were visible everywhere, from this gentleman's lovely tie to the red, white and blue balloons and centerpieces.

Dressed in period clothing, this young couple are two of a dozen or so from Lincoln Christian University who attended the dance.

"Smile pretty for the camera!"

Wayne and Dr. Melissa Cox "cut a rug" on the dance floor.

A veteran stands as the band plays a well-known patriotic song.

This vet joins in the singing of that song.

The task force handed flags to all the veterans in the room.

To you, sir, and all the other veterans in Logan County and around the world, we humbly thank you for your service to this country.
