That phrase might sound like just another commercial for a retailer
during the holiday season. But, in fact, it is a plea from Rebecca
Van Nydeggen, local director for The Salvation Army, for folks to
request assistance on their past-due water bills before residential
water service is actually shut off for nonpayment. The Salvation
Army is the agent for Illinois American Water for the "H2O Help for
Others" program in Logan County. Individuals or families who reside
in Logan County and are facing shut-off of their Illinois American
Water residential service due to financial hardship may apply for
supplemental assistance to help pay their water bills. Household
eligibility is determined through the application process available
at The Salvation Army Keest Center, 307 N. Kickapoo St. in Lincoln.
Program assistance awarded may not cover a recipient's entire
water bill. The assistance is available only to customers with
Illinois American Water residential accounts in their own names (not
for third parties).
For more information on the H20 Help for Others program in Logan
County or to schedule an appointment at the Keest Center, call
