HardwareLingering moisture was expected to keep chances of rain over northern New England and parts of Upstate New York. In addition to showers, windy conditions were expected with chilly afternoon temperatures persisting. In contrast, the Mid-Atlantic would experience drier weather conditions with warmer daytime highs.

In the West, showers and storms in California were expected to begin tapering off Thursday as the stubborn low over Southern California drifted northeastward into Nevada. The system would bring light to moderate scattered precipitation to the Intermountain West and the Rockies. Meanwhile, strong high pressure was expected to develop over the California through the weekend with warming and drying trends.

Elsewhere, high pressure was forecast to keep the Midwest and the South under pleasant weather activity with dry and mostly sunny conditions.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Wednesday ranged from a low of 27 degrees at West Yellowstone, Mont., to a high of 91 degrees at Mesa, Ariz.
