[October 13, 2010]  Trinity Episcopal Church will have a rummage sale this Saturday, Oct. 16, from 8 a.m. to noon. All proceeds from the sale go to local charities that benefit Lincoln and Logan County. Trinity is located at 402 Pekin in Lincoln.


On Thursday, Oct. 14, the Citizens for Mary Kelley are sponsoring a mostaccioli dinner fundraiser. Kelley is the Republican candidate for Logan County circuit clerk. The mostaccioli dinner includes salad, dessert and drink. Tickets can be purchased at the door. The event is at the Knights of Columbus, 217 N. Limit, from 5 to 7 p.m.


Tuesday, Oct. 19, there will be a special blood drive sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church Board of Deacons in memory of Joyce Kinzie. It will be at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, 301 Pekin St., from 2 to 7 pm.


On Tuesday, Oct. 19 there will be a breast cancer support group meeting at 6 p.m. Please call 732-9325 for directions. Breast cancer survivors and anyone who loves them are invited to attend. This is a monthly meeting, this time at the home of a group member for pizza and an informational video. Regular members are asked to bring a few dollars for pizza plus a drink or side dish. First-timers are welcome as guests.


On Tuesday, Oct. 19, there will be a parent workshop, sponsored by the Healthy Families Task Force of the Healthy Communities Partnership, at 2018 N. Kickapoo St. from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The topic will be "Creative Activities to Do With Children," presented by Bill Buss.

Zion Lutheran School in Lincoln has chosen its September Students of the Month. (Click on pictures for larger images).

Grace Walters, an eighth-grader, has been selected as Zion Lutheran Student of the Month for August and September. Grace's ZLS honors and activities have included honor roll, math bowl, basketball, volleyball, track and field, student council, band, choir, cheerleading, scholastic bowl and geography bee. Her church and community activities include 30-hour famine, youth group, 4-H, YMCA sports, AYBT basketball, gymnastics and VBS. Grace's parents are Kevin and Angie Walters of Lincoln.

Jim Sielaff, an eighth-grader, has been selected as Zion Lutheran Student of the Month for August and September. Jim's ZLS honors and activities include honor roll, baseball, basketball, track and field, student council, choir and American Legion essay contest, where he placed second in Illinois. Jim attends Faith Lutheran Church. His church and community activities include confirmation class, youth group, VBS, summer baseball, Rec Center basketball and YMCA soccer. Jim's parents are David and Sara Sielaff of Lincoln.
