Identification
is required for early voting, and two forms of
identification (one with a current address) are required if
registering or changing voter registration. Grace period
registration and voting ends Oct. 26 and early voting ends Oct. 28.
The county clerk’s office will also be open on Oct. 30 from 9
a.m. to 1 p.m. for in-person absentee voting.
The last day a voter can make an application by mail for an
absentee ballot is Oct. 28. Voters should be aware that their mailed
ballot must be returned by midnight on Nov. 1 in order to be counted
on Election Day and that there is additional postage required.
The general election will be on Nov. 2, and all polling places
will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. for voters to cast a ballot at
the polling place for their precinct.
"Although the election is actually held on the 2nd, more and more
voters are coming to early vote or casting an absentee ballot by
mail," Litterly said. "No longer do we have an Election Day; it is
more like Election Month."
Litterly encourages voters to take advantage of early voting to
accommodate their schedules and not confine them to one day of
voting. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. for voting.
Litterly surmises that the Logan County voter turnout will be
approximately 60 percent.
Election night results will be available at
www.co.logan.il.us.
