[October 23, 2010]  NEW YORK (AP) -- New York City's archbishop is taking issue with The New York Times for praising an art exhibit and a play he says are insensitive toward Catholics.

The exhibit is by the AIDS activist group ACT UP. The Manhattan play is "The Divine Sister."

Archbishop Timothy Dolan tells WCBS-TV that the Times is allowing insensitive references to Catholics it would not allow for other religions.

The Cambridge, Mass., art exhibition features a poster of the late Cardinal John O'Connor alongside a condom, although that piece was not specifically mentioned in the paper's review. Dolan also criticized a photo accompanying the play review, which he says showed a nun in a "suggestive pose."

The paper says it covers cultural events, "even if some may disagree with the content of the artwork."
