[October 28, 2010]  NEW YORK (AP) -- The Tony-winning musical "In The Heights" is leaving Manhattan for good early next year.

Producers say the joyous, Latin-laced show, which tells the story of three generations dealing with change in the Washington Heights neighborhood, will end its Broadway run on Jan. 9 after more than 1,200 performances.

Those who catch the last few shows will get a treat: Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator, original star and composer, will rejoin the show Dec. 25 for the last 19 performances.

"In the Heights," now in its third year on Broadway, won four Tony Awards in 2008, including best musical, choreography and orchestrations. Miranda won for best music and lyrics.

The music also won the 2008 Grammy Award for Best Original Cast Album.
