J.P. White, an Army private
first class, formerly of Mount Pulaski, was killed in Afghanistan in
2006. His parents, Jim and Robin White of Chambersburg Road, Ohio,
have had his Dodge painted in a U.S. flag design, with JP's picture on
the hood and a list of Ohio fallen posted around the car. He was a
member of the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade
Combat Team of the 10th Mountain Division, based at Fort Drum, N.Y.
J.P. attended Mount Pulaski Zion Lutheran School before
moving to Ohio. His parents have been making the four-hour trip to Mount
Pulaski Fall Festival the past several years for the Saturday parade
in J.P.'s honor. Two pictures of the car are in this album.

was organized in 1885 and won a gold medal for three consecutive
victories in the statewide hook and ladder competitions (1891-1893). |
American Legion Post 447 flag float, created
by former commander, L.K. Buckles, in 1990, is supported by the
Buckles family and maintained by the Mount Pulaski Sons of American
Legion members. |
