Cross
country The men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Illinois
Intercollegiate Championships at ISU this weekend. There were teams
represented in every division from D1 to NAIA. Out of the 38 teams represented, the ladies placed 22nd. They were
led by sophomore Keara Allen-Wilson, who ran the 5K course in 21:15,
placing 164th overall. The men placed 25th. They were led again
by sophomore Jeff Wooldridge, who ran the 8K course in a time of
27:26.
Coach Brian Herron said: "This was a great meet. There were close to
400 runners in both races. I thought our women's team did a much
better job this week. Our men have to keep after it. Many of the guys are still adjusting to racing
five miles; in high
school they raced three miles. Their times are continuing to improve on
both sides, so that is a very good sign. "Next week we have another
huge meet. There will be close to 40 teams again. I think we can
even place higher than what we did at this meet." Women's golf The women's golf team finished
third at the Kaskaskia invitational on Friday with a team total of
430. Rend Lake won the event with a team total of 329 on the par-72,
5,920-yard Governor's Run. Individually, LC's Ellen Turner
finished in seventh place. LC scores:
-
Ellen Turner, 89
-
Emily Cearlock, 103
-
Alex Martens, 112
-
Kim Lange, 126
