[September 29, 2010]  The household electronics recycling collection co-sponsored by Logan County Joint Solid Waste Agency and Vintage Tech Recyclers is this Saturday, Oct. 2, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Logan County Fairgrounds.

Please use the main gate.

They will be accepting the following working and non-working items only, no small appliances:

Computer equipment:

  • Laptop and desktop personal computers

  • Hard drives

  • Monitors

  • Keyboards

  • Printers

  • Scanners

  • CD ROM/DVD/Zip/tape drives

  • Cords and cables

Entertainment equipment:

  • TVs

  • Radios

  • Stereo systems

  • Game systems

  • Joysticks, game controls

  • VCR/DVD/CD players

  • Cameras

Small business equipment:

  • Phones

  • Pagers

  • Copiers

  • Typewriters

  • Fax machines

  • Calculators

  • Electronic organizers

$5 fee per household.

Wyatt Boyer of the Elkhart area has won the 2010 Habitat for Humanity of Logan County playhouse. The winning ticket was drawn at the Railsplitter Festival. Wyatt is the youngest of three boys and is a third-grade student at Athens Elementary School. His proud parents are Jennifer and Mason Boyer. Wyatt's grandmother purchased the ticket during the Logan County Fair.


A Musical Offering for World Hunger, sponsored by Harvest of Talents, will be on Sunday, Oct. 3. The public is invited to attend.

The program will include music of varied styles and will feature the talents of Linda Storm, Gail King, Laurin Hill, Tim Searby, Jim Allison, Kay Dobson, Julie King, Brandon Davis, Worship Choir, Paula Landess, Rich Knopp, Donnie Parker, Bev Kurka, Mike Vernon, Paula Knopp, Randy Storm, Barry King, Kate Hemmer, Lorna Searby, Deb Parker, Bob Kurka, Ryan Hemmer, LaVerne Tesh, Jennifer Ramsey and John Stein.

A freewill offering will be taken and all proceeds given to Harvest of Talents.

A blood drive sponsored by Lincoln Kiwanis will be on Monday, Oct. 4, at the Lincoln Masonic Center, 2022 N. Kickapoo, from noon to 6 p.m.

Donate blood at this lifesaving event in support of the central Illinois blood supply. Central Illinois Community Blood Center is the blood provider to area patients of 15 counties at 12 central Illinois hospitals. CICBC is the only provider of blood to Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Hopedale Medical Complex, Memorial Medical Center and St. John's Hospital.
