City proclaims April 9 as 'Bob Shattuck Day'

[April 05, 2011]  Monday evening, the Lincoln City Council passed a proclamation making April 9 "Bob Shattuck Day" in the city of Lincoln. The following is the text of that proclamation.

WHEREAS, Bob Shattuck is a valued member of the Lincoln community and has been actively involved in the fabric of our community through his many professional, family, and social activities; and

WHEREAS, Bob is an architectural designer for J.H. Petty in Springfield who has done over 100 projects to improve the Lincoln and Logan County area; and

WHEREAS, Bob's family includes his wife Mary and children Craig, Emily, and Maggie; and

WHEREAS, Bob has been battling oral cancer for two years and is now under the care of the Total Health Institute in Wheaton, IL; and

WHEREAS, Bob's many friends and colleagues have planned a benefit to be held on Saturday, April 9, 2011, as a tribute to Bob and his indomitable spirit and to assist him and his family with medical expenses; and

WHEREAS, the City of Lincoln has been blessed with Bob's friendship and by his professional talents, skills, and service and wishes to appropriately express to him our admiration and appreciation.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Mayor and the City Council of the City of Lincoln, that Saturday, April 9, 2011 shall be "Bob Shattuck Day" in the City of Lincoln, Illinois in celebration of Bob's friendship and service to the people of Lincoln and Logan County; and be it further

RESOLVED, that the people of Lincoln join us in extending to Bob Shattuck and his family our best wishes for a memorable and successful benefit on Saturday and most sincere hopes for a victory over cancer, better days ahead, and a return to the important things in life such as spending time with family, friends, and golfing buddies.
