[April 07, 2011]  CHICAGO (AP) -- A fire at a home on Chicago's South Side killed three children, who were trapped in the burning building.

Fire officials say the children were ages 2, 4 and 9. They died after the fire broke out early Thursday in the city's Englewood neighborhood.

The children's father, Stacey Austin, tells the Chicago Sun-Times that he woke up to find the home on fire. He says he tried to put out the fire and get his family out of the building but was unable to reach the three young children who died. Austin says he and his wife have 10 children and the whole family was home when the fire broke out.

There's no official word yet on what caused the fire.
