On Monday, one day before the official opening of the Logan County Fair, judging was conducted for 4-H exhibitors from three categories -- 4-H Visual Arts; Non Original Visual Arts; and Indoor, Flower & Herb Gardening, Miscellaneous, Gardening & Crops. Over 25 entries were on display to receive the judges' scrutiny in the latter category, also labeled Dept. W projects.

This week's focus is boldly stated on a 4-H counter during the Dept. W judging. Plants and plaques tell part of the story for Monday's activity.

Live herbs were displayed for judging, partnered with informational material.

Images of edible herbs were displayed on a pictures board entered in the floriculture-horticulture exhibit.

Superintendent Jason Steffens attached ribbons to entries after the judge's decision was recorded.

The judge and superintendent work together to make the competition a learning process for the 4-H members.
