Maniscalco replaces Joel Smiley, who resigned in April. A search
committee led by executive board member Steven Smith evaluated over
25 applicants. The committee was comprised of representatives from
the city of Lincoln, Logan County Board, Lincoln/Logan County
Chamber of Commerce, the education sector and the agricultural
sector.
Maniscalco, 29, earned a bachelor's degree in history and a
master's in public administration, with an emphasis in nonprofit
management, from the University of South Dakota.
He was employed with the Illinois State Museum, where he managed
an award-winning national leadership project called "Oral History of
Illinois Agriculture."
His most recent employment was as program manager for the Autism
Program of Illinois. In this position, he led statewide operational
planning of support activities and initiatives. He also managed the
development and maintenance of a statewide network of 27 agencies
and university partners supplying training and autism services to
29,000 autistic youth. As program manager, he managed a $4 million
budget. He is an experienced and successful grant writer and has
experience working with diverse public bodies.

He is excited about the opportunity to live and work in Logan
