[August 10, 2011]  Terry Veach will retire from Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital this month after a long nursing career in the emergency department.

Veach started working in the emergency department in 1979 and took a year off to work as an office nurse at what was then Family Medical Center. She started her second stint at ALMH in 1986.

"It's been a very good job, close to home," she said. "I like that everything's always changing. Nothing is ever the same."

She grew up in Mount Pulaski and was a candy striper at the hospital when she was in high school.

ALMH will host a celebration in her honor on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. in Steinfort Conference Room A (lower level). Cake and punch will be served.

Terry intends to spend her retirement focusing on her hobbies -- genealogy and her grandchildren.
