[August 16, 2011]  To help ensure an adequate blood supply for our region, Lincoln College is sponsoring a blood drive at the student center on Friday, Aug. 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For your convenience, call Jessica to sign up toll-free at 1-866-GIVE-BLD, ext. 118, or schedule an appointment online through www.cicbc.org. Walk-ins are also welcome and truly appreciated.

The Humane Society of Logan County will wash dogs on Saturday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at AutoZone, 1206 Woodlawn Road. Donations are accepted for the wash. Dog nail clipping will be available for an additional $7.

On Sunday, Aug. 21, square dancers from across the state will meet at the Lincoln Park District for a special fundraising event hosted by the Linpro Square Dance Club. Activities will get under way at 4 p.m.

Round dances (ballroom figures) will be cued by Ron Betzelberger, with square dancing from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The squares will be called by Dale McRoberts and Betzelberger, both of Lincoln, and Curt Braffet of Carlock. Line dancing will be led by Bev McRoberts of Lincoln.

The theme for the event is "South of the Border" and will feature Tex-Mex music and refreshments.

The Linpro dancers thank the many local businesses that donated door prizes for the event and the dance leaders for donating their time and talent.

For more information, call Ron at 217-732-6387. Spectators are always welcome.
