The
public is invited to attend.
Burnham will tell his powerful story of battling depression
as a teenager, a story that has been documented by national
news outlets such as CNN and CBS. Burnham's story was
featured in an Emmy-nominated segment on ESPN's sports news
magazine show, "E:60." Burnham has also spoken on Capitol
Hill about teen depression.
Although he was elected as the president of his class and
was an accomplished three-sport athlete, Burnham battled
depression throughout his first two years of high school.
His battle with depression ultimately led to a suicide
attempt when he jumped out of a 10th-story window following an argument with his parents.
After an extensive physical and mental recovery, Burnham has
taken his inspiring message to schools across the nation
with the intention of raising awareness of teen depression.
Burnham's message also informs students that talking about
whatever they are going through is a useful coping
mechanism.
"We're very fortunate to have Jordan on our campus as the
school year begins, bringing such an important message both
to Lincoln College students and to all local students in
general," said Lincoln College President Jon Astroth. "We
welcome all local students, parents and educators to attend
this event."
