The
music committee of St. John UCC in Lincoln is
sponsoring a Workshop on Sat., Sept. 10th from 2pm - 5pm at
the church.
The Circle City Ringers of Indianapolis will be in charge of
the workshop which will include learning techniques in
playing the handbells and chimes, along with several other
optional sessions. Cost is $10/person or $8/person in
groups of 10 or more. To register call St. John's at
217/732-6957 from 9am - 4pm.
That evening at 7pm the Circle City Ringers will be giving a
concert at the church. There will be a free will offering
during the concert and a social time following the concert.
Some
lucky people from First Presbyterian Church will be
tutoring elementary students at Washington-Monroe School
at 1002 E. Pekin St. this fall. It’s likely we’ll be
tutoring from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays throughout the school
year.
This is a unique opportunity to become a meaningful part of
a young person’s life. We offer one-on-one help and
encouragement to children who don’t get much adult attention
and who still have a chance to become successful students
and productive citizens.
If you’ve ever worried over what may be happening to today’s
youth, here’s your chance to make a difference. If you are
willing to help us on Tuesdays when you do not have a
conflict, please contact Gary Davis at (217) 737-3359
to indicate your interest and your willingness to help. Or
see me at worship on Sunday. We’ll make sure that you get
all the materials and orientation you need to do a good job
as a child’s tutor.
Community Communion at First Baptist, 101 Broadway,
will begin on Tuesdays every week beginning in September at
11:00 AM. A short devotion will precede the service that
will last approximately 20 minutes. Invite a friend or
neighbor or someone that may truly need this time with God
and join Pastor Robert on September 6th. Thank you.
