Buick to introduce small crossover SUV

[December 15, 2011]  WARREN, Mich. (AP) -- General Motors says its Buick brand will unveil a new compact crossover SUV called the Encore at the Detroit auto show.

It's expected to be about the size of a Toyota RAV-4 or Honda CR-V.

GM isn't releasing details until the show in January.

GM also says it will give buyers a choice of three engines in its new Cadillac ATS small sport sedan.

The ATS also will be unveiled at the Detroit show. It will come with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine or a 3.6-liter V-6. It also has a new 2-liter turbocharged engine with 270 horsepower.

The rear-wheel-drive ATS is aimed at people who would buy the BMW 3 series sedan.
