There are so many things to do before
Christmas -- put up the tree, bake cookies, wrap presents and
decorate the principal. Miss Faith's pre-K class at Carroll Catholic
School finished that final item on the list Wednesday when they
asked Mr. Welch to their classroom. He thought they wanted him to
have a glass of punch. They did want him to share treats, but first
he got to be a Christmas principal, complete with garland, colored
baubles and candy canes. Since they had plenty of decorations, they
invited Mrs. Craig, the school secretary, to come join the fun. The
girls decorated Mrs. Craig and the boys decorated Mr. Welch. Parents
brought treats and snacks and spent the last morning before
Christmas break celebrating with a room full of elf-sized partiers.

Mrs. Craig and Mr. Welch were invited
to the pre-K classroom to help celebrate Christmas. They were part
of the program by being decorated like trees.

With many ideas about design and much
chatter as they worked their magic, the girls went around Mrs. Craig
with items of mass decoration. |

The boys continued to look for spaces
where hooks would fit and more baubles could be added. One student
suggested the outfit would not be complete without a candy cane
hanging from an ear.

Always the good sport, Mr. Welch
exhibits the final result of the boys' efforts and their random acts
of holiday fever. |

All decked out with garland, colored
balls and giant snowflakes, Mrs. Craig poses with the pre-K girls
who put her outfit together.

For several weeks students have been
wearing shirts with Christmas trees and other holiday decorations.
Some of those may have inspired their ideas for decorating Mr. Welch
and Mrs. Craig.

|
The boys slowly began circling Mr.
Welch with garland, but their excitement increased as they saw how
good he looked, so they added more decorations.

Parents brought snacks and treats for
the holiday party. The pre-K teacher, Miss Faith (facing the class),
and her aide Miss Martin (back, right) wore their elf hats to add to
the spirit of the day. |
