The students and staff had a large group picture taken in September. It hangs on the wall near the junior high end of the building. The location is considered the district's collection of honored items.

His wife Tamara, Chaplain Barry Wright, son Ethan, daughter Abigail and brother-in-law Gordon Lanning attended the special program at West Lincoln-Broadwell on Wednesday afternoon.

The chaplain brought the "Holy Man" stick he was given while in Iraq. A woven cross of cord surrounds a piece of shrapnel caused by a bomb that created memories of his stay in Iraq.

The choir sang the national anthem during the program. Trey Schilling opened the program by leading the school and visitors in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Superintendent Climer introduced the chaplain and explained that the student council would present items to recognize the occasion and thank Wright for his service and for his effort to fly the district's flag over Iraq.

At the presentation, Wright received a hug from his nephew Payton Lanning, a WLB student and student council member.

Wright presented to Climer a homemade certificate that recognizes the importance of the flag and states the date and location of its flying over Iraq.

Copy of the certificate presented to West Lincoln-Broadwell by Maj. Barry Wright of the Indiana National Guard.
