[February 01, 2011]  NEW YORK (AP) -- Two of the three U.S. network evening newscasts are sending their anchors to Egypt to base their programs at the scene of the political unrest there.

InsuranceNBC says Brian Williams will anchor the top-rated "Nightly News" from Egypt starting on Monday. Katie Couric is en route to Cairo for the "CBS Evening News" beginning on Tuesday.

ABC says it has no immediate plans to send "World News" anchor Diane Sawyer to Egypt. ABC sent Christiane Amanpour to Cairo, where she anchored "This Week" on Sunday.

Everyday life in Cairo has been turned upside down by the largest anti-government protests in Egypt in decades. Demonstrators have pressed for the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak (HAHS'-nee moo-BAH'-rahk). Egypt's military has promised not to fire on any peaceful protests.
