[February 04, 2011]  (AP)  Another storm will develop in the Southeast on Friday, but this storm will bring little in the way of winter weather.

The East will see more rain from this event than any of the recent storms that have swept through the country.

Low pressure will begin to strengthen in the South in the early morning hours as moderate to heavy rain falls across the region. West of the Mississippi, precipitation will likely fall as snow, sleet or freezing rain, which could cause some serious travel headaches, especially in the overnight and early morning hours. Precipitation in the South will begin to end from west to east in the afternoon as the storm's center pushes eastward and another area of low pressure begins developing off the Carolina coast. This low will sap strength from the storm over the land and become the primary weather-maker Friday night into Saturday for the East Coast.

In the Plains, chilly temperatures will stick around Friday, with some locations around the Great Lakes expecting highs in the teens. The cold weather throughout the region will be accompanied by clear skies, which will help make things feel a bit warmer as the peak of winter recedes.

In the West, conditions will continue to be unseasonably warm from California through much of the Southwest. Along with the warm weather, continued clear skies will make for a great start to the weekend. In the Northwest, temperatures will be more mild, and a storm pushing into coastal Canada will send some rain south into Washington.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Thursday ranged from a morning low of minus 31 degrees at Craig, Colo., to a high of 84 degrees at Fort Myers Airport in Florida.
