Lincoln city fire and rescue calls
Tuesday, Feb. 1
The following news release was provided by Mark Miller, Lincoln
city fire chief; Brett Tripplett, investigator; and Darrin Coffey,
the officer in charge at the scene.
Incident occurred Feb. 1 at 12:44 p.m. at 1305 Woodlawn Road,
Lincoln.
There was a small fire at the Crossroads Motel, in a utility room
off the back of the building. The fire was a result of an electrical
short in one of the electric panels in the utility room. The fire
stayed contained to the panel and extinguished itself before
firefighters arrived. Ameren shut off power to the building so
electrical repairs could be made. As a result of the power being
turned off, 14 residents were displaced. The displaced residents
were referred to Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital for shelter. The
damage to the electrical panel is estimated to be around $1,000.
