[January 25, 2011]  As the New Year begins, many of us make a commitment to improving our health. As an incentive for current and prospective members, the Lincoln Park District is offering an extra month to anyone joining the Sports Center for a one-year term. Anyone joining for a three-month period will receive an extra week. This offer expires Jan. 31.

The Sports Center features a strength room with both selectorized equipment and free weights, a circuit room with multi-station training equipment and cardio-theater entertainment system, along with use of the walking-running track, basketball-volleyball courts and sauna. All group exercise and spin classes are included at no charge with a circuit or full-access membership.

You are invited to stop out during regular business hours and Roy will give you a free tour.

A digital photography class will start Tuesday, Feb. 1. Stephen Klemm, owner of Picture This Photography, will be the instructor. Classes are designed for the beginner to the intermediate or anyone interested in using their digital camera to the fullest. Class will be four weeks from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The digital camera class will open with how to take better photographs. The following weeks will address the best settings for your camera, computer printer and software. Stephen will also cover making calendars, cards and fun, whimsical projects. Week four will culminate with the high-tech of special effects, e-mail and slide shows.

Cost is $50 in district and $60 out of district. Please preregister. A minimum number of participants are required in order to offer this class.
