At the Jack Nutt Arena at
Lincoln College on Saturday, two men with distinguished careers at
the school were honored by the college. Tom Zurkammer and Alan
Pickering, who have devoted more than 70 years to Lincoln College
between them, will be remembered forever as their names will be
			written into the gym floor.
			The following bio on Zurkammer
was provided by Lincoln College. A bio on Alan Pickering is in Album
			2.
			Tom Zurkammer is a Lincoln
College alumnus, Class of 1963. A scholar athlete, he competed on
the baseball and basketball teams and was a member of the storied
1963 basketball team that finished 11th in the nation with a record
of 30-7. That team has since been enshrined in the Illinois
Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Zurkammer returned in 1966 to
teach math and computer science and served for the next 43
years! He coached the men's basketball team from 1967 to 1970. In 1982
he was appointed dean of academic affairs and then went on to
become vice president of academic affairs. Provost was added to his
title in 2004. He retired in 2008.
