Joseph Ahrends, a seventh-grader at Zion Lutheran School in Lincoln, has been selected as the Zion Lutheran January Student of the Month.

Joe has been on the high honor roll, and his ZLS activities include speech team, band, Bible Bowl, Math Bowl, Scholastic Bowl, Geography Bee, track and field, choir and chimes choir.

He is a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln. His church and community activities include youth group, Sunday school, serving as Chester 4-H president and Kajukenbo martial arts. Joe also enjoys reading, acting and making films.

Joe's parents are Les and Marty Ahrends of Lincoln.
