 The consent agenda held a motion for approval of past meeting
minutes and a motion to pay the city's current stack of bills.
Alderwoman Melody Anderson made the motion to approve the consent
agenda, it was seconded by Alderwoman Kathy Horn, and in less than a
minute all the voting for the evening was done.
After that, Mayor Keith Snyder asked for public participation,
but with only aldermen and department heads in the room, no one had
much to say.
One interesting bit of information that did come up was a new
city ordinance that has been drafted by city attorney Bill Bates
regarding flood plain areas in the city.
Bates said that the new ordinance is a mandate from the Illinois
Department of Natural Resources that must be passed so that Lincoln
residents who carry flood insurance on their homes will be able to
continue that coverage and make claims against it if needed.
Bates said the ordinance will replace one that is already in the
city code.
The drafted copy will be distributed to aldermen and must be
voted upon no later than at the Feb. 7 meeting of the council.
As the meeting came to an end, Snyder warned the council that
they should not expect future meetings to move so quickly, as there
is plenty of work ahead for the council in the new year.
