3 US soldiers killed in Iraq

[January 15, 2011]  BAGHDAD (AP) -- The U.S. military says three American soldiers have been killed in separate incidents in one of the deadliest days for U.S. forces in Iraq in months.

A U.S. statement gave no details, but a U.S. military official and an Iraqi police officer said two of the victims were killed Saturday when two Iraqi soldiers opened fire on the Americans during a training exercise in Mosul.

Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release the information.

The third soldier was killed in central Iraq, the U.S. said.
