[January 22, 2011]  (AP)  An Arctic blast of air from Canada will bring some of the coldest temperatures of the winter to the Northeast on Saturday and keep residents of the upper Midwest huddled indoors for warmth.

InsuranceThe bitter cold and frigid wind chills that made getting around miserable for many Midwesterners on Friday will persist for another day, with temperatures in North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin struggling to rise above zero degrees.

Parts of the Southeast will also be cold, with temperatures in the 30s and 40s. But temperatures in southern Florida are expected to reach into the 80s.

A low pressure system will bring rain and high-elevation snow to the Northwest and intermountain West, but a strong high pressure system will keep the rest of the West dry for several days.

Temperatures are expected to rise into the 10s and 20s in the Northeast, and 30s and 40s in the Southeast and Northwest.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Friday ranged from a morning low of minus 44 degrees at International Falls, Minn., to a high of 82 degrees at Opa Locka, Fla.
