'The King's Speech' is top film at producer awards

[January 24, 2011]  LOS ANGELES (AP) -- "The King's Speech" claimed the crown for best film at the Producers Guild of America Awards, knocking off Golden Globe best drama winner and Oscar front-runner "The Social Network."

HardwareThe film that features Golden Globe best actor winner Colin Firth playing George VI as he tries to overcome a debilitating stammer also beat out nominees "127 Hours," "Black Swan," "Inception," "The Fighter" and "The Kids Are All Right" at Saturday's awards, part of the steady stream of ceremonies leading up to the Academy Awards in February.

In other categories, "Toy Story 3" won for best animated feature and "Waiting for Superman" took top documentary honors.

On the television side, AMC's "Mad Men" won for best drama series and ABC's "Modern Family" won best comedy.
