Violent rabbit cartoon skewers China's injustice

[January 26, 2011]  BEIJING (AP) -- China's censors have removed a satirical cartoon featuring flesh-tearing rabbits from websites. The film's director says the clip is meant to draw attention to injustices over the past year.

Next week marks the start of the Year of the Rabbit in much of Asia, and the video shows rabbits being subjected by tigers -- the current year's animal -- to various injustices including police brutality, food contamination and housing demolitions. The rabbits then revolt and rip apart the tigers with their teeth.

The video has been removed from major websites in China but remains on YouTube.

Director Wang Bo says he hasn't heard from authorities. He said Wednesday that his aim is to tell the truth and he doesn't understand why the government is scared of cartoons.
