It
would not be the Fourth of July in Lincoln without the annual water
fight at the park district. Monday morning under
beautiful skies and with mild temperatures, kids lined up to do
battle against the city fire department's “big guns."
This is just one of 176 color, local pictures in today's edition
of LDN. Putting in over 50 man-hours -- or woman-hours -- LDN
staff members were on the job all weekend to document another holiday
weekend in the busiest county in Illinois.

Mount Pulaski had their Fourth of July parade on
Saturday, with over 50 entries participating in the theme "Life on the
Hill." The parade was just one of dozens of events in the town this

Miss Brazil

Competition at Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The Miss
Brazil pageant press office says that Lyra was held up at gunpoint
as she approached the entrance of her gated condo in Sao Paulo on
Sunday. The gunman took her purse, which contained her documents,
cellphones and credit cards, and took the car she had been given for
winning the 2010 pageant.
