[July 11, 2011]
With a combined history of over 2,500
volunteers serving at more than 300 project sites over the course of
the past three years, Together for Lincoln is at it again as it
plans for its fourth annual community workday on Sept. 25. In
addition to visiting seniors, painting homes and cleaning up yard
waste, coordinators anticipate that they will construct their 50th
wheelchair ramp in the community.

The partnership of approximately 16 churches "Coming together for
the common good" continues this year with an understanding that
their efforts are not only blessing people in Lincoln, but that
other communities are also modeling this effort. Churches in
Rushville have already partnered to model Together for Lincoln with
a successful service day in their own community, while churches in
places such as Pana and Columbia, Mo., have contacted Together for
Lincoln coordinators to see how they might model the service day as
well. It is easier than ever to volunteer this year, as volunteer
applications can be completely filled out and submitted online at
www.togetherforlincoln.com. For those who wish to submit written
project or volunteer applications, both applications can be found on
TFL's website, at all State Bank of Lincoln locations, Action
Rentals and The Oasis senior center. The deadline for all
applications is Aug. 15.
The project day will once again conclude with an
interdenominational worship service at Lincoln Christian
University's Hargrove Chapel. The evening worship service has become
a cherished part of the project day, with nearly 1,000 people in
attendance each year.
