Friday evening the large
gymnasium at the new Lincoln Center on the Lincoln College campus
was abuzz with nearly shoulder-to-shoulder people celebrating
victory.
There was no ballgame going on. Instead it was scores of people
walking hand in hand, showing they had triumphed over cancer, and it
was hundreds of people vowing to spend a 12-hour period
participating in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
More than 350 people spent the night at Lincoln College --
walking; visiting; listening to music; taking part in special
segments, including the Hat Laps, Beach Lap, Jammie Laps and Purple Laps; participating in live and silent auctions; and much
more -- all with the purpose of raising money for the American Cancer
Society.

This year there were 36 teams and more than
350 walkers.

Each team was introduced as they walked their
first lap.

Many of the teams consisted of survivors and
their supporters. |
