Bank of England holds key interest rate at 0.5 pct

[March 10, 2011]  LONDON (AP) -- The Bank of England has kept its base interest rate at a record low of 0.5 percent, as the market expected, despite increasing concerns about inflation.

The rate has not been changed for two years as the Bank sought to stimulate recovery from a deep recession.

The announcement was made Thursday.
