[May 10, 2011]  The Pink Shutter thrift shop will offer four themed baskets for raffle during the fifth annual Route 66 Garage Sale event this weekend.

The raffle will be on Saturday at the 114 N. McLean St. store during the special downtown sidewalk sales. The Pink Shutter is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, which supports the hospital and its mission.

Tickets for the raffle are five for $1 and can be used toward any of the baskets:

  • A little boy basket with water guns, toy trucks, bubbles and more.

  • A little girl basket with sidewalk chalk, bubbles, children's jewelry and doll.

  • A movie night basket with a gift certificate to the movie theater and Guzzardo's, popcorn and candy.

  • A ladies' basket with spa items.

Additionally, the Pink Shutter is now using frequent buyer cards for customers. Wallet-size cards will be stamped for every $10 spent, and when customers receive 10 stamps, they can use the card as a $10 gift certificate.

The garage sale event this weekend will be throughout Logan County and beyond. Downtown businesses have sidewalk sales and vendors will be located in Lincoln's Postville Park.

ALMH opened the doors to the Pink Shutter in 1961. It was created to help purchase needed equipment for the hospital. It continues to fund various ALMH Auxiliary programs, such as Lifeline and the new hospital project. The Pink Shutter accepts donations of clothing and housewares from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
