[May 13, 2011]  Laura Miller was recently honored as Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital's Employee of the Month for April for possessing a great attitude and pleasant personality.

"Her attitude supports our positive work environment, and patients often request her when scheduling appointments," says co-worker Julie Cross, who nominated Laura for the honor. "She is always willing to provide extra assistance with patient care as well as other tasks in our department."

Miller, who is originally from Indiana, has been a physical therapy assistant at ALMH for about three years. She has a bachelor's degree in psychology and an associate degree as a physical therapy assistant.

Her day-to-day job includes working one-on-one with patients and their physical therapist to help them complete their exercise programs and get back to a functional level of activity.

"I would definitely recommend this career. It is very rewarding to see the efforts you make on the patient's part transform that patient's life and allow the patient to resume the lifestyle they are accustomed to," Miller says.

She adds that she enjoys her co-workers and team in rehabilitation services and that they are always willing to help each other out.

"I really enjoy the friendships I have formed with many people," Miller says. "I love that it isn't a chore to come to work."

ALMH employs more than 290 in a wide variety of job functions. A different employee is honored each month for their commitment to creating great patient experiences, getting great results and making ALMH a great place to work.
