In the South, the low advancing into northern Mexico will spread showers and thunderstorms in southern Texas. Warm and moist conditions combined with energy and dynamics of this system may cause severe thunderstorm development through much of Monday into Tuesday. While damaging wind and severe hail will be the main concerns with this system, a tornado may be possible late Monday and early Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, a cold front extending from the upper Great Lakes through the central Plains will advance eastward. The northern half of this front will move quickly through the Ohio Valley and the lower Great Lakes. Showers and thunderstorms will develop ahead of this disturbances in the Ohio Valley and the Northeast. Storms in the Ohio Valley may turn severe during the afternoon. While some hail will be possible, the main concerns with these storms are damaging winds with the possibility of a few tornadoes. The southern half of this front will extend through the Ozarks and into the southern Plains with showers and thunderstorms.

Elsewhere, a mix of rain and snow will continue in the Northwest as a cold front and moist onshore flow move through the region.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday ranged from a morning low of 14 degrees at South Pass, Wyo.. to a high of 90 degrees at Kingsville NAS, Texas.
