It was the day after Thanksgiving
And crowds at the mall
Soon led me to believe
I'd prefer something small.I made out my list:
Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Mary,
Mom, Dad and Sis,
And dear Uncle Larry.
Then to downtown Lincoln I flew;
There would be something for
Everyone for certain,
I knew.
As I near the downtown
New Beginnings and Treasure Chest I see;
I'll stop there right now
And do some shopping for ME!
OH! There's the Owl's Roost;
I'll take a quick look,
Enjoy a coffee and roll;
Ronda's such a great cook!
With knitting supplies for grandma
And a framed family photo for dad and mom,
I left Serendipity
With my shopping begun.
Aunt Mary loves to quilt,
And Log Cabin's the place
To buy things she'll need
For her next blanket face.
My niece just got married;
It's her first family Christmas this year;
I'll stop by Three Roses
To buy her some ornaments here.
Grandpa loves coffee,
The richer the better;
A gift from Beans and Such
Will fill that need to the letter.
My hubby's been crying
He has no place to sit;
A recliner from National Rent to Own
Will be a perfect fit.
My son-in-law loves tacos
From Dickson's, you see;
I'll get him gift certificates;
He'll be so happy with me!
My grandson, my son's son,
Is a tough one for sure,
But I know he'll "relate" to tickets
From Theater 4.
I need to sit down
With my list and a pencil;
I'll do that at Hallie's
While enjoying a schnitzel.
I have a new grandbaby,
As sweet as can be;
A keepsake ornament from Mary Todd
Will be one of her gifts from me.
And for stocking stuffers,
Toys, games and more,
I'll visit Prairie Years;
It's such a great store!
My daughter's a mommy!
Tears fill my eyes;
A mother-daughter necklace from MKS
Will be a touching surprise.
My sis, she's so stylish,
She loves glitzy things;
While I'm at MKS,
I'll check out the rings.

For myself, I love vintage
Of any kind;
I'll hit Pink Shutter and Mission Mart;
I have plenty of time.
My son loves tattoos,
But he's missing one;
With a gift card from Styx,
Maybe I'll get my "Mom."
My daughter-in-law?
Well, she loves to cook;
Great items from Abe's
Will fill that nook.
And I think
That while I am there,
I'll pick up some sweets
To eat, give and share.
Main Street Lincoln
My next stop will be;
I'll buy a 2011 city ornament
From my friend Wanda Lee.
My hub needs a gift for a grab bag at work;
I asked and he told me as clear as can be,
He wants lunch at the Blue Dog
To put under that tree.
Oh, and Uncle Larry!
I almost forgot;
He loves Arcade omelets
A gift card; why not?
My shopping is done,
But my parking is prime;
I'll call hubby to meet me,
And at Guzzardo's we'll dine.
We'll enjoy the evening,
Great food and some wine,
And just sit and relax
Until parade time.
At the parade I see Santa,
And would you believe,
He asks what I'd like
Under MY Christmas tree.
I think for a moment;
What should I order?
Ah, gifts from Sherwin-Williams:
Fresh paint and new border!
My van is packed full
With great gifts for all,
And would you believe
Not one trip to the mall!
If everyone would give
It a shot, they would see
They'll find great gifts in Lincoln,
Just like me.
